Whenever I come across something that gives me a good belly laugh, I have to share it with my partner. But when it’s a fall off the couch, tears and snot guffaw-fest, it has to go on the Dos Tortas blog.

This week we watched Cloudburst with Olympia Dukakis on Netflix. I began by not paying much attention but was soon completely riveted. I’ll surely go back and watch it again. The zingers were flying fast and furious and absolutely hilarious.

The fact that this movie came out in 2002, before lesbians could legally marry in the US, means that I am waaaay behind the times in my movie watching. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

DOS TORTAS

We enjoyed this film too. It was a great introduction on what humor lies in juxtapositions.

Thanks you so much for telling me about Cloudburst. I just finished watching it. What a sweet, wonderful flick. Hard to believe it’s been out almost 20 years, and it only made 15K! Probably because it was an independent Canadian flick and the subject matter. I’ll bet if it was the same premise about a heterosexual couple it would have gotten a lot more attention. Sad…. Anyway, I’ thought it was beautiful, touching and loving. I’ve always loved Olympia Dukakis. Such a droll sense of humor, and they gave her some great lines. And loved the K.D. Laing music in the sound track – have been a fan for 35 yrs, and saw hee at the paramount in 2018. Seems so long ago. BTW, I’m glad you restarted your blog, and really enjoy following your adventures. You’re pretty inspiring to me. My husband and I decided to uproot and moved to Asheville NC early this year from Austin. We’re loving life in the mountains in a smaller version of Austin! Take care of yourselves and stay safe. So glad you liked the movie. Your observations are spot on. My brother lives outside Asheville. I love it as well.

Love this film. It was never released here in the UK so we had to get an import. Just as well our DVD plays all regions! Olympia Dukakis was splendid in pretty much everything she did, particularly Tales of the City and Steel Magnolias. We were so sad to hear of her death. Brenda Fricker is very well this side of the pond. She was in a BBC hospital drama for years.

Not sure how we missed this gem. Better late than never. I forgot she was in TOTC! Easy to see I’m not very with it when it comes to movies! 😉
