Moms Are Pissed

26 Jul

This week has been a stellar week for women and moms in the US news. While I have held to the commitment that this is not a political blog, I simply cannot fill it with pictures of my dog (as cute as she is, and as happy as she makes me) which was where I was leaning this week.

My own artwork.

The news broke in Portland with the “Wall of Moms” being tear gassed. https://youtu.be/fNBiWnl1H8g Their motto brought tears to my eyes.

Then there was the fiery response by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the floor of our seat of government. https://youtu.be/LI4ueUtkRQ0

Our hope, our voice.

And lastly I read a blog by Jon Katz https://www.bedlamfarm.com/2020/07/24/one-mans-truth-aoc-moms-women-mayors-its-on/ which puts it into perspective beautifully.

Author, blogger and keen observer.

So this week I will rest. My eyes burn from crying. I just bought a book on Mary Magdalene. I will fill my time wrapped in her inspiration. She was another strong woman beyond my experience. I’d love to hear your thoughts on where you find peace and inspiration. Stay home, stay safe, until next week.

I have been a follower for years and glad you are back, but for some reason the Word press people are telling me I am not logged into my account when I have tried to post a comment. Ask me for my password and then tell me I’m wrong–??? Just wanted you to know I read all you write, love your writing, art work, and spirit. I wanted to leave a comment today as you nailed what I felt this week too–women! we will lead us out of this mess. Judy Murray , Progreso, Mexico ________________________________

Looks like you got back in. Word Press does that sometimes. I’ve had to reset password only to find that my comments went through. 😫

I don’t know about peace–it’s in short supply at my house. Between the political situation and the Covid situation, it’s tough. Currently reading How to Be An Antiracist and switching off to mindless finction. Very much enjoyed the Blog from Bedlam Farms. I like Jon Katz a great deal. 🙂

I read one of Katz’s books on his dogs. He’s created quite the life for himself. He is very astute in his observations of the times.

The blog post by Jon was absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for posting it. I liked it so much I tried to sign up for his blog, but it kept telling me I needed to enter a valid email address. Well, I checked and yes I had entered a valid email address. I had left a comment, but I went back to tell him I wasn’t able to sign up for his blog. But his blog wouldn’t post it because it said I had already said that! And of course I had not, I had said something completely different. This is not a happy blog supporting day for me!
And AOC gave one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard. I actually jumped up and cheered at the end of it!

“The best of times, the worst of times” kept floating through my mind as I read your b!og and Jon’s The worst is obvious. But, oh, Octavio-Cortez! That I would live to hear and see a young woman like her! I had goosebumps through this entire post. Glad you are writing again.
