Four nights this week we have had tropical storms (tormentas). Deafening thunder clapped overhead and kaboomed like it was inside of the bedroom. Looking out over the lake, electric streaks were dancing across the sky. It would have been lovely if not a tad bit scary for Stella. Poor baby.

Stella is our pug. She’s been with us for three years. She is blind but you would never know it. From the beginning of her time with us, she has always hated thunder. She whimpers, shudders and shakes. This week was particularly difficult.

I took her into our bed and had to hold her down as she fights and fusses. She even fell asleep sitting upright under the covers. It has been hard on us all. As the storm moves away she finally settled.
The good thing has been the rain after a long dry spell. Hopefully the storms will abate or at least be a bit quieter. We could all use some restful sleep
DOS TORTAS

I feel for little Stella! Such sweet photos of her. Our Boston Terrier, Paisley, was the exact same way about thunderstorms. She’d get so agitated, and it was very hard to hold her, as she just wanted to pace and tremble. The middle of the night storms that go on and on were the worst, and I suffered quite a few sleepless nights myself trying to calm her. I finally bought her a Thundershirt, but by the time we had more than one storm to try it out (it seemed to help somewhat), she had gone completely deaf. After that, she didn’t fear storms. She was blind as well by then, so even the lightning didn’t bother her. Only good thing about having a blind and deaf dog! RIP Paisley. ❤

These sweet little beings add so much to our lives. It’s hard when they leave.

Most of the time she’s a happy little flea. We have benches on our porch. Sometimes she’ll hop up and forget she can get down. 😂

Poor Stellar. See if you can get hold of a thunder shirt. A number of my friends use them and have been very pleased. I’m at least glad you got some rain!
Now Canada needs some. I’m in North Carolina, and the smoke is already bothering me so much I may have to go back south or west.

I crocheted her a sweater that might have worked. Trouble is I didn’t think of it until later. What part of NC? My brother is outside of Asheville.

Sorry, the original comments and Stellar. That’s the last name of my housemate, so auto correct, changed it.
I was in the Raleigh/Durham area and from there I went to the coast. right now I’m near Newbern, which is north of Jacksonville. The smoke from the Canada fires is getting really bad. I might go to the Outer Banks tomorrow but then I’m going to have to head back southwest.

I hope your sweater works next time because, unfortunately, there will be a next time.
